The Chakras are first mentioned in the ancient Vedas, the Hindu books of knowledge. Chakra is the name given to seven centres in our bodies. These centres are considered to be vortices of energy, probably electromagnetic in form.
These swirling vortices (sometimes referred to as “vortexes” in modern language) of energy regulate the energy flow through our bodies. These centres open and shut depending on what we are feeling and thinking.
Chakras are not physical objects, like our organs. They cannot be seen, but they are an integral part of our vital force, and they keep our whole mind and body working together harmoniously.
The seven main chakras are located at different points throughout the physical body, and they are associated with specific areas of the body.
Every sense, every feeling, and every experience is connected to a specific chakra.
When one is stressed about something, that chakra itself can become unbalanced, and when this happens it manifests itself as illness in the physical body.
Holistic health requires that the mind, the emotions, and the physical body work together in total harmony. This means that the chakras, as vortices, need to be spinning at the correct frequency. When this does not happen our health suffers. To become healthy again, or to maintain a healthy balance, the individual chakras need to be balanced from time to time.
